YorkTest Laboratories uses a two-stage process designed to test for food intolerances.

The first stage - The foodSCAN intolerance test this simple pin-prick method is to obtain a sample of blood this can be carried out at home.

The second stage The blood sample is then sent to YorkTest Laboratories to be tested against a mix of the most common food allergens. The test is carried out using the reliable ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbant Assay) technology, which offers a very high degree of accuracy and reproducibility.

If food intolerance is present, the immune system produces raised levels of IgG antibodies in the blood. A positive result indicates that further testing is warranted.

YorkTest Laboratories will then offer a choice of two in-depth tests that detect and measure IgG antibodies to specific food allergen extracts thereby giving a comprehensive list of suitable foods you can continue to enjoy and non-suitable foods to be eliminated from the diet to help alleviate symptoms.
