Catriona Gibson, Medical Herbalist MNIMH, BSc (Hons), ITEC Dip
Catriona Gibson is a medical herbalist and massage therapist who trained with both the Scottish School of Herbal Medicine and the University of East London.
In training at two different student clinics, Catriona had the opportunity to see a range of patients, often with long term conditions causing pain and having a massive impact on quality of life. Patients at the clinics ranged from babies to people in their 80s and came with a wide range of conditions - digestive problems such as IBS, stress-related conditions, allergies causing skin and respiratory problems and a range of menstrual difficulties.
Before becoming a herbalist, Catriona worked for a number of years with people who were homeless, often with severe, long-standing health problems. This lead to an interest in alternative approaches to health which encompass a thorough consideration of the person's situation and lifestyle. She made the decision to train as a medical herbalist due to a desire to combine this interest in healthy lifestyles with herbalism's potential to provide a sustainable form of medicine, using plants which can be grown and re-grown to ensure a sustainable resource.
