Bowen Technique

The Bowen Technique Glasgow is a non-invasive holistic therapy pioneered by Thomas Bowen, who developed the method in Australia after the second world war. The therapy consists of a series of rolling moves over muscle and connective tissue. By combining these moves the practitioner is able to address the body as a whole, or target a specific area. Simply put, the technique allows the body to reset and heal itself.
"As a therapy that promotes self-healing, the potential for the Bowen Therapy in areas of healthcare, sports performance and stress management is tremendous."

Touch is used in a very different way to other forms of hands-on therapy like massage and is only applied at precise points on the body. The treatment can be done through light clothing.
Bowen Therapy promotes healing, pain relief and recovery of energy using very light touch.
Bowen 'moves' are very small movements, but they do bring about profound change. They are delicate, gentle, precise and are safe to use on people of all ages.

Some of the conditions that Bowen Technique may help with are :-
  • Headaches/migraine
  • Back pain
  • Muscle pain
  • Asthma especially childhood asthma
  • Knee, Ankle and foot problems

A treatment usually last about 60 minutes and can be applied through light clothing. The therapist uses thumbs and fingers at precise points on the body to make rolling type moves which aim to stimulate energy into the muscles and soft tissue. During the treatment the therapist will leave the room for short periods, allowing the client to rest while the body responds to the moves already performed and makes subtle adjustments to initiate the healing process. Brain will also use techniques from the Emmet Technique where these are beneficial.
