What they do: Bay leaf essential oil is often used in skin care regimes. It can be used to prevent dandruff and promote hair growth. It is also beneficial for muscle sprains.
History: Bay Leaf originated in Asia however quickly came to Europe. During the Roman Empire Bay leaf was used to treat the liver when infected or malfunctioning. Bay leaf is a narcotic in large amounts and was used during the Delphic rites; it was also used for the same purpose by Apollo's priestesses that would chew bay leaf before making prophesies. For this stay the idea of leaving leaves under ones pillow to have prescient dreams. It is now mainly now for the trees in front of Swiss restaurants.
