How to use it: Internally: a few drops in boiling water infused with mint or another herb for flavour. In external use a few drops in a base cream to massage on painful areas. .
Extraction: Black pepper essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the black peppercorns that have been dried and crushed.
What it does: Black pepper can be good to help digestion; from slow digestion, bloating, lack of appetite to flatulence. It is an antispasmodic which can help with stomach cramps. It is antimicrobial and antiseptic which can be useful to help in case of flues and colds. Black pepper can also help for muscular and joint pains, especially in the case of rheumatic pains.
History: Black peppers come originally from South East Asia. The medical properties have been known for more than 4000 years and used extensively in India. In the Malabar tropical forest coast peppercorns were gathered by hand and sold directly to merchant ships. The black pepper market quickly gained popularity as it became known as "black gold".
