Following university and a career in arts journalism, Nadine worked behind the counter at Woodland Herbs' shop and herbal dispensary while training in the therapies which have helped her so much over the years. This time expanded her appreciation of the use of herbs, supplements, diet and lifestyle, as well as knowledge of the human body and the ailments it can suffer.
Nadine has a specific passion for pregnancy and postnatal massage after gaining a diploma with distinction from Well Mother, the acclaimed educational organization established over 20 years ago by highly-respected author-practitioner Suzanne Yates. "Pregnancy and the postnatal period are times of change and development, both for mother and baby, and for the wider family. This time can affect the long-term health of women and their families, and the support and encouragement of a bodyworker trained in the specific issues associated with this period can be a valuable addition to the mother’s care-giving team." This ‘mothering the mother’ can also include sessions with the woman’s birth partner in how to help support her in the latter stages of pregnancy and labour.
As an aromatherapist, Nadine is trained in the use of essential oils in helping a range of ailments, both physical and emotional. She has also studied Ayurveda, the ancient 'science of life', which gave the world Indian Head Massage. When appropriate, she incorporates a range of techniques into her treatments, such as deep tissue work, myofascial release and trigger points. Such techniques can assist with a number of issues, such as shoulder, neck and back pain, recovery from and preparation for training and exercise, as well as common emotional challenges such as stress and low mood. Nadine is a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists.
